How Sumit tried to kill me??.... twice!!!

Aligarh, Oct 17, 2001:

Me, Vikas (Topi), Sumit (Mo), Ankit A. Gupta, Nimish (Neemu) and Shashank Kulshrestha started from Mo's place for 'Sir Syed Dinner' (every year university organises Dinner on the occassion of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan's birthday) in Aligarh Muslim University (later on referred to as amu).

I's on Mo's Bajaj Super and to be specific it's his dad's (This he clearly expressed in his later conversation). As usual he's the one in the driver's seat and as a pillion i's enjoying the view. Suddenly he accelerated trying to zoom past all the vehicles (even though we had loads of time to kill) in a zig zag manner and we kinda skidded in this process but both of us enjoyed it.

This was the encouragement he needed (or he already had loads of it), he gave more gas and whew...... we blasted through the traffic..... there were 2-3 vehicles right behind us (that i guessed from the intensity of the honking) which meant that he couldn't apply brakes even if needed. I couldn't turn back. My eyes were fixed on the Picasso image in the front..... a Maruti 800 and a Vikram (call it a 3 wheeled shared auto or a butt-suar) looking forward to bang us!!!!
I's about 5'10"-5'11" that time and my legs were too much out of Super. There was enough space only for a bicycle to move through these two vehicles. I thought 'man..... first biggie of my life' but was a bit afraid too (not that of the accident but the scolding we'll be getting after the accident). I cringed to save my legs (out of fear... i suppose). Mo went past through them (as if he's driving some Military Tank) ignoring the fact that those two vehicles had trouble easing off from our way and my legs brushed a little against Maruti 800 on our left and a lot against butt suar. If i won't have noticed this and sat normally.... i'm sure a lot would have said 'this is it'!!!!!

We reached there and had dinner. It's fun and we all enjoyed a lot. It's time to go back, and i risked my life again while going back and yes...... Mo's driving!!!!
What' i thinking???.... i don't know yet!!!
For coupla mins things went smoothly. When we were nearing Allama Iqbal Hall Mo again showed his true colors. He accelerated Super and tilted it like a Motorcycle and Bingo.... we started skidding. Centrifugal force pushing us out in dry mud (off the road) with no chance of safe landing....... we almost fell but after lotsa trouble Super was in Mo's control again. I shouted 'pagal ho gya hai kya be..... kyu maarne ke attempt kar rha hai...... sccoter ki bhi waat laga rha hai'........ he stopped for a sec...... looked back ---- grinned and said 'pitaji ka scooter hai'. The whole way i's forcing him to drive properly with only one dialogue 'yaar abhi meine kuch nahi kiya hai.... kuch time aur zinda rehne de'.
Somehow we were back (unhurt) and i got another one liner from Mo 'yaar kisi ko bitha kar chalane ki practice karni thi.... varna pitaji bike nahi dilvayenge'!!!!

If this ended here i would have felt lucky but no Mo had more plans up his sleeve.

Sometime later in future........

Me and Sumit were on a Hero Puch (and there's no need to tell that who's driving).... out for lunch (read premi ke paranthe).

As we were nearing the place, there's an ice-cream cart (the one with a cycle in the front and a box in the back) whose brand i don't remember. The box was facing towards us. Anyone could have easily driven past through them as the roads were broad enough. But no, Sumit had some other plans. He accelerated as we were nearing that cart. There were two guys standing close to the cart (both were the owners), seeing Sumit and me coming towards them with that speed they started shouting. Sumit accelerated and applied brakes simultaneously and then put his feet down on the road pretending (as he's accelerating it continuously) to stop the puch. Both the ice-cream wallahs ran away and KABOOM..... we hit the cart HEAD-ON with loads of space to drive past them........ i had already put my feet on the ground to stop the puch......... the ice-cream wallahs came towards us and to my astonishment they were not abusing. Sumit started giving fundas to them 'arey yaar brake wire toot gya...... dusra brake thik nahi hai'. They believed and claimed no damage as there's none.
After reaching that premi outlet Sumit got down and grinned (like taking my approval that everything is ok) and nothing happened while coming back..... he's driving carefully (dunno why).....

If you all are thinking this to be THE END...... i can prove you wrong...... the other incidents are not huge as above as later on i was careful enough to understand his plans upfront and warn him......

My biggest fear now is that he's planning to buy a car and i'm sure he's gonna learn driving and ask (read force) me to go on drive (i know it's for practice only).
Don't know what's gonna happen to me next..... do you??

How it all started?

Rider: Mohit Juneja
Age: 22 years
Year: 2006
Location: Somewhere in Noida
Bike: Bajaj Pulsar 150cc
Owner: Sumit Agarwal
Pillion: Refer Owner

I's forced to ride the bike though i hated it as sitting in the back seat has lotsa perks. Didn't had much knowledge about disc brakes which is offered in 150cc bikes.
I's driving lazily @ 50+ kmph, suddenly Sumit shouted to apply brakes as we were approaching some traffic signal while going to Spice mall to have lunch (please read Rasgullas and Rasmalai @ Haldiram's). I applied the disc brakes with full power, the front stopped instantaneously with the rear tyre skidding and coming in the front though in style and not tilting much (as you must have seen in many Ajay Devgan movies :D). Sumit almost had a heart attack, afraid..... he took the handlebar away from me and i's back to my original spot..... THE PILLION!!

END OF STORY
Conclusion: A guy, 22 years old, didn't know how to ride a bike!!!

I got my own bike (my friend Vikas advised me to go for Pulsar, there is a reason of not waiting for FZ-S which has great looks and Yamaha engine which i will tell some other time) thinking of it as just a means to go office and somewhere nearby with not much intention of using or abusing it while my roomies wanted me to go for low power m/c. (I still think that i should have gone for Pulsar 180cc)
My roomie Sharad drove it from showroom to flat and it stood there staring at me for 2 days. Again asked Sharad to tell me the gear logic of 1 down and 4 up as these Bajaj guys changed it from all on one side, it went fine but i didn't do well.

The next evening i rode it alone from my Andheri flat @ around 2300 for a 5 min drive. As it went smoothly i went on and on from there to my brother Rohit's flat @ Borivali. Had some Haldiram Rasgullas there and came back @ around 0230 after getting lost several times though the route is almost straight with just a coupla turns. Asked the way while going there and coming back from the same auto-wallah. (who zestfully and told me the way)
After a week i started going on long drives of 2-4 hrs alone @ night and my another roomie Das (Aniruddha) gave me a cool name (and i kinda liked it and till now i live up to that names' expectations) and i dont know when but i liked riding my bike even though i clocked only 1200 kms in 3 months.

Changed job. Shifted to Gurgaon. The bike was at my friends Kamal and Raman's place in Noida. Got it there in ggn but not using it much.
Shifted to Delhi. Started going to office on bike once in a week (26kms one side with hell lotsa traffic). A few weeks later i again started my night rides and guess what??... this time it's more fun as roads in delhi are helluva better than Mumbai......... twice or thrice in week i started riding for 100+ kms... increased it to 150+ kms and...... BOOM!!!!! I knew i have found something i enjoy...... it's more than enjoyment...... it's my passion!!!

My friend Shazli quoted
2-4 mahine ka shauk hai jaldi hi khatam ho jayega, abhi bike nayi nayi seekhi hai
